At Total, investing in energy and environmental research and development (R&D) is one of the important ways in which we are realising our commitment to better energy. This week, Education Director, Andrew Hogg joined colleagues from Total, other French companies and leading French educational institutions at the Innovation and Education Forum in Qatar. Over 2 days, under the Patronage of H.E. Sheikha Hind Al-Thani, CEO of the Qatar Foundation and H.E. Eric Chevallier, Ambassador of France to Qatar, delegates debated topics including R&D collaboration and internship opportunities.
Total’s Corporate Vice President of International Scientific Development, Philippe Tanguy launched the exchanges with his presentation on ‘University-Industry Relations at Total’ during the opening plenary session.
“Qatari universities are particularly active in innovative, forward-thinking R&D activities,” explained Andrew, speaking after the ‘Collaboration in Education’ discussions. “This Forum is an excellent way for us to discover how top universities here are exploring, with leading French institutions, opportunities including student exchanges, teacher visits and joint Masters and PhD programmes, and to contribute with our own experience. Our focus is on identifying, inspiring and supporting the young researchers who will take on the energy challenges of the future.”
